Step-by-step: send a file from Windows to iPhone
Open WebDrop on your Windows PC and start a transfer session. WebDrop creates a session link and QR code. On your iPhone, open the camera and scan the QR code, then tap the browser prompt to join.
Once both devices are connected, drag files into the WebDrop session on Windows. Each uploaded file appears on the iPhone with a download button. You can save it to Files, preview supported media, or share it into another app.

Where the file goes on iPhone
After you tap download in the WebDrop session, Safari normally places the item in the Downloads location configured on the iPhone. Apple’s current guidance points users to Files, then Browse, then Downloads. If Safari is still downloading, its download button near the address field shows progress and provides a shortcut to recent items.
Images and PDFs may open in a preview instead of immediately looking like a saved file. Use the Share menu to save an image to Photos or save a document to a chosen Files folder. Verify the destination before closing the transfer session, especially if you need to attach the file in another app later.
Troubleshooting failed scans and incomplete downloads
If the QR code does not scan, increase the code on the Windows screen, turn up screen brightness, and move the phone far enough away for the camera to focus. You can also open the session link directly. If the session loads but a transfer stalls, disable a restrictive VPN temporarily, keep both tabs in the foreground, and retry with a small file to separate a network problem from a file-specific problem.
A completed upload and a completed download are different checkpoints. Wait for the upload to finish on Windows, then wait for Safari to finish saving on iPhone.
